Data Import Wizard

The Data Import Wizard imports data from a compressed (zipped) export file created by the Data Export Wizard. This is useful for restoring a backup, transferring your work to another computer, or copying custom content and settings to another Windows user account.

To import your data:

  1. From the Tools menu, click Data Import Wizard.

  2. The wizard will restart the software when it finishes importing so the imported settings can be applied. If you have unsaved changes, you will be prompted to save your design before continuing.

  3. Click Next.

  4. Click Select File, choose the exported .zip file, and then click Next.

  5. Select the items you want to import, and then click Next.

    • Settings - Global settings such as program options, keyboard shortcuts, and saved graphics settings.
    • Price Lists - Custom price lists.
    • Custom Data - Imported pictures, models, symbols, and other custom content.
    • Landscape Designs - Saved landscape design files.
  6. Click Finish to import the selected items.

Where files are imported

The wizard imports files into the following folders under your Documents folder:

Description Folder
Default Object Properties Documents\Realtime Landscaping Architect version\Default Properties
Graphics Settings Documents\Realtime Landscaping Architect version\Graphics Settings
Price Lists Documents\Realtime Landscaping Architect version\Price Lists
Landscapes Documents\Realtime Landscaping Architect version\Landscapes
Custom Data Documents\Realtime Landscaping Architect version\Custom Data

Important: Importing restores files into these standard folders so the software can find them automatically.

Replacing existing files

If a file already exists, you will be prompted with:

<filename> already exists. Do you want to replace it?

  • Yes - Replace the existing file.
  • Yes to All - Replace this and all subsequent existing files without prompting.
  • No - Keep the existing file (do not import this file).
  • No to All - Keep all existing files without prompting.
  • Cancel - Cancel the import. Important: Files that were already imported are not rolled back.

Tips:

  • If you are importing onto a new computer or Windows user account, run the wizard while signed in to the target account so the files are placed in that user's Documents folder.
  • If you already have custom data, settings, or designs on the destination computer, consider exporting a backup first using the Data Export Wizard.
