Introduction to Modeling

Realtime Landscaping includes a variety of tools that can be used to create basic 3D objects for use in your landscape designs. For example, using the modeling objects provided, you can create new pergolas, outdoor furniture, greenhouses, and more.

While Realtime Landscaping includes thousands of pre-built models, there are times when you might need to create something else. There are several ways to do this:

Import a model downloaded from the Internet using the Model Import Wizard. Important: Please comply with any licensing requirements of any models or other artwork you download from the internet before using them in your projects.

Use Blender, 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, or other 3D modeling software that can export models in a file format supported by the Model Import Wizard.

Create a new model using an existing model as a starting point. For example, creating a custom pergola using one of the existing pergolas in the Accessory library as a starting point.

Use the custom modeling tools described in this chapter to create your own custom models from scratch.

Of course, you can mix and match any of these methods as needed.

Once you have created a model, you can use the Model Creation Wizard to create a model that you can add to the library. The model will then be available for use in your other projects.
