Adding Pool Decking

Pool decking is used to create a flat foundation for swimming pools and spas. Pool decking is similar to the Patio object, but also supports coping along its perimeter and automatically cuts holes for any swimming pools which are placed on top.

To add pool decking:

1. From the Swimming Pool tab, click Add Pool Decking.

2. Draw the outline of the pool decking by clicking the left mouse button to add points. Press the Backspace key to remove the last point added, and press the Esc key to cancel. If you would like to input the distance and angle manually, place at least one point and then press Enter.

3. To finish drawing the pool decking, place the last point on top of the first point. Or, right-click to place the last point.

The following swimming pool design uses pool decking for the pool and spa.

Editing Coping

Coping is automatically added by default to the perimeter of pool decking, but can be turned off or toggled per edge if needed.

To turn the coping on or off per edge:

1. Select the pool decking you want to edit.

2. Click Edit coping to enable edit coping mode.

3. Click the pool decking edges where you want to toggle the coping.

4. When finished, click Edit Coping again to disable edit coping mode.

Designing Multilevel Pool Decking

Multilevel pool decking can be designed using the Height and Elevation properties. To create a multilevel pool deck, add a separate Pool Decking object for each level. Set the Height and Elevation properties of each Pool Decking object so that a tiered design is produced. This technique was used in the above example.

Working with Uneven and Sloping Terrain

Pool decking can be placed on sloping and uneven terrain, and will always retain its flat surface. Modify the Height property of the pool decking as needed to produce the necessary foundation for your swimming pool design.
