Custom Model Properties

For any properties not shown below, see Setting Object Properties.

Model

Elevation

Distance from the ground to the bottom of the model.

Scale about X

Amount to scale the model in the X direction (width).

Scale about Y

Amount to scale the model in the Y direction (height).

Scale about Z

Amount to scale the model in the Z direction (length).

Rotate about X

Rotation angle of the model about its X axis. If your view is facing north, this will rotate the model forward or backward.

Rotate about Y

Rotation angle of the model about its Y axis. If your view is facing north, this will rotate the model left or right as if it were sitting upon a pottery wheel.

Rotate about Z

Rotation angle of the model about its Z axis. If your view is facing north, this will rotate the model left or right as if it were sitting upon the face of a clock.

Scale evenly

When one dimension of the size is changed, adjust the other sizes proportionally. Uncheck this option to change one dimension without changing the others.

Mirror X

Invert the model about its X axis.

Mirror Y

Invert the model about its Y axis.

Mirror Z

Invert the model about its Z axis.

Material

Material

Type of material the custom model will use.

Shader

How the material is rendered. There are currently two shaders available, Normal and Plant Foliage. Use Plant Foliage for plants that should move in the wind, and Normal for everything else.

Use default render settings

Use the default render settings for the current material. Uncheck this option to customize the render settings.

Metallic

Determines if the material is made from metal or not. This is usually 0 for non-metal or 100 for metal, but can be anything in-between depending on the material you are creating.

In the case of painted metal (such as car paint), the paint defines the surface properties, not the underlying metal. In this case, Metallic should be set to 0.

Smoothness

How smooth the material is. Use a larger number for a smooth material such as chrome or ceramic, or a smaller number for stone or other rough material.

Transparency

How transparent the material is. Use 0 for opaque materials, 99 for glass, or anything in-between for semi-transparent materials.

Glow

How much the material is self-illuminated. This is set to 0 for most materials.

Set mapping

Reset the current mapping and set new mapping defined by the Width, Height, Offset, and Flip properties (described below).

Width

Width of the material in feet or meters.

Height

Height of the material in feet or meters.

Angle

Rotation angle of the material.

Offset X

Horizontal offset of the material.

Offset Y

Vertical offset of the material.

Flip horizontal

Reverse the material's horizontal direction.

Flip vertical

Reverse the material's vertical direction.

Advanced

Edit points

Enable or disable point editing mode, which will allow you to modify the shape. See Editing Points for details.

Edit polygons

Enable or disable polygon editing mode, which will allow you to modify the individual pieces of the custom model.

Select connected

Select all polygons that are connected to the currently selected polygon.

Select same material

Select all polygons that have the same material as the currently selected polygon.

Flip front/back

Invert the front and back sides of the selected polygons.

Set smoothness

Modify how smooth the selected polygons appear to be.

Draw both sides

Show both the front and back sides of the selected polygons.

Elevation

Distance from the ground to the selected points.
