Control Settings

These settings allow you to customize user interface controls based on your preferences.

Landscape Design Software - User Interface Settings

Zoom into mouse position in Plan view

Using the Zoom tool in the Plan view will zoom into the point on the screen where you first click the mouse button. Otherwise, the zoom will be relative to the center of the screen.

Zoom into mouse position in Perspective view

Using the Zoom tool in the Perspective view will zoom into the point on the screen where you first click the mouse button. Otherwise, the zoom will be relative to the center of the screen.

Reverse mouse zoom direction

Reverses the zoom direction when using the Zoom tool or mouse wheel.

Mouse wheel zoom amount

Controls how far to zoom when using the mouse wheel.

Keyboard nudge distance

Distance the selected objects are moved when nudging them using the keyboard. See Moving Objects for details.

Auto pan speed

Controls how fast the view pans when the cursor reaches the edge of the screen.

Paste command moves objects to the current layer

Pasted objects will be moved to the current layer. Otherwise, pasted objects will be moved to the same layers they originated from. New layers will be automatically added if needed.

Enable move tool

The move tool simplifies object movement in fixed directions: left/right, forward/backward, and up/down. Use the small rectangle in the center to move objects horizontally (left/right and forward/backward) without changing their height.

Use legacy snap behavior

Restores snapping behavior from earlier versions of the software.

Perpendicular snaps (pre-2023 behavior): Earlier versions ignored curved segments when calculating perpendicular snaps. Current versions include curves for improved accuracy. Enable this option to ignore curves and use the older method.

Angle snapping (pre-2026 behavior): Earlier versions used a “smooth” snap that allowed any angle, but snapped when the direction was near a snap angle. In version 2026, angle snapping uses exact multiples of the snap angle (more like traditional CAD). Enable this option to revert to the older smooth snapping behavior.

Use legacy spline curve behavior

Landscape Design Software - User Interface Settings

When enabled, spline tangents are calculated based only on the horizontal plane. This matches the behavior of versions prior to 2026 and is enabled by default for older designs to maintain their original look.

When disabled (the default for new designs), tangents are calculated in full 3D. This results in smoother, more natural elevation transitions as the curve moves vertically.

Notes:

  • Toggling this setting may alter the elevation of existing curves and elevations in your design.
  • This setting is saved per design and is automatically enabled for designs created in 2025 or earlier for compatibility.

Enable fish food in Realtime Walkthrough (Pro, Architect)

During a Realtime Walkthrough, you can feed the fish by clicking the left mouse button to throw fish food. Uncheck this option to disable this feature.
