Deck Properties

Style |
Choose from a variety of pre-designed deck styles. Once you select a style, you can customize it as desired. |
Elevation |
Distance from the ground to the bottom of the deck frame. |
Board direction |
Direction angle of the deck boards. |
Toggle railing |
To toggle portions of the railing on and off, click Toggle railing. Next, click on the deck edge underneath the railing you want to toggle. When finished, click Toggle railing again to exit railing editing mode. |
Save Style |
Save your current deck configuration as a style that can be used in future designs. |
Edit points |
Enable or disable point editing mode, which will allow you to modify the shape. See Editing Points for details. |
Shape options |
Save the current shape or load a new one. For more details, see Saving and Loading Shapes. |
Framing |

Use default material |
Uncheck this option to select a different material for the deck framing. |
Add joists |
Add lateral supports to the top of the deck beams. |
Add posts and beams |
Add deck posts and beams underneath the deck. |
Add footings |
Add a concrete block underneath each deck post. |
Hide deck boards |
Hide deck boards to expose the underlying framing. |
Railing Posts |

Use default railing posts |
Uncheck this option to select a different material for the railing posts. |
Placement |
Whether the deck railing posts are placed within the perimeter of the deck or are partially outside of the deck. |
Cap style |
Style of the railing post caps. |
Base trim style |
Style of the railing post bottom trim. |
Post size |
Width and length of each railing post. |
Max spacing |
Maximum distance between railing posts. |
Top Railing |

Add top railing |
Uncheck to remove the top railing. This is useful when using glass panels instead of balusters. |
Use default top railing |
Uncheck this option to use a different material for the top railing. |
Type |
Top railing style. |
Height |
Distance from the deck surface to the top of the upper railing. |
Bottom Railing |

Add bottom railing |
Uncheck to remove the bottom railing. This is useful when using glass panels instead of balusters. |

Type |
Bottom railing style. |
Offset |
Distance to from the deck surface to the bottom railing. |
Add support blocks |
Add small wooden supports between every two deck railing posts. |
Balusters |

Uncheck this option to change the type of baluster and the baluster material. |
Model |
Type of baluster to use. |
Width |
Width of each baluster. |
Spacing |
Distance between balusters. |
Fascia |

Use default fascia |
Uncheck this option to change the height and material of the fascia. |
Height |
Distance from the bottom of the fascia to the deck surface. |
Skirting |

Add skirting |
Add skirting below the deck fascia. |
Height |
Distance between the top of the deck skirting and the bottom. |
Auto-calculate height |
Automatically calculate the skirting height as the distance between the bottom of the fascia and the ground. Uncheck this option if you want to enter the height manually. |
Add trim |
Add decorative trim on the skirting below each deck railing post. |
Trim color |
Color of the skirting trim. |

Area |
Surface area of the deck in square feet or meters. |
Perimeter |
Total distance around the deck in feet or meters. |
