Showing & Hiding Objects

To show/hide objects:

  1. From the View menu, click Show/Hide Objects.
  2. Change the settings as desired and click OK.

When working with large landscape designs, sometimes selecting the objects you want to modify can be cumbersome. One solution is to hide objects that you don’t currently need to work with. For example, suppose you want to make changes to your fill regions, but the plants keep getting in the way. You can hide all of the plants, make changes to the fill regions, and then show the plants again.

You can also lock objects to prevent them from being selected. This is useful when you have added objects that you do not want to accidentally modify. For example, suppose you have finished your fill regions and want to focus on adding plants. You could lock all Region objects, which would prevent them from being selected accidentally.

You can hide and/or lock all objects by category by clicking the Hide/Lock buttons to the right of the category name. For example, to lock all Plant objects, select the Lock option to the right of the Plants category.

Tips:

  • You can also hide and lock objects by layers. See Using Layers for more information.
  • Objects can only be shown and hidden by their type, not individually. That is, hiding a type of object hides all objects of that type in the landscape.
  • When you add an object to the landscape, all objects of that type are automatically made visible.
  • Hidden objects are saved and loaded normally. That is, you can save your landscape with hidden objects, and the objects will remain hidden when you later open the file.
  • Object visibility is specific to the current landscape design file. In other words, changing the object visibility in one file will not affect any other files.
  • Hidden objects cannot be selected, edited, or deleted.
