Taking a Screen Shot

During a realtime walkthrough, you can save the contents of the screen to a picture file. You can then edit it using the Realtime Picture Editor or any other picture editing software.

To take a screen shot:

1.   Press F5. A standard Windows file dialog will then appear and ask you where you would like to save the file. Enter the file name and click Save.

2.   The following dialog will then appear:

3.   Select the desired resolution, render quality, and render style. Click Preview to preview the selected render style.

4.   Click OK. The screen shot will then be rendered and saved to the specified file.

Impressionistic Render Styles

A variety of render styles are supported, allowing you to create impressionistic renderings.

Render Style

Description

Normal

No render style is applied.

Increased contrast

The contrast in the picture is slightly increased. This helps the picture appear slightly more vibrant.

High contrast

The contrast in the picture is increased. This helps the picture appear much more vibrant.

Soft highlights

Bright areas in the picture are slightly exaggerated.

Strong highlights

Bright areas in the picture are strongly exaggerated, helping to create a surrealistic look.

Colored pencil

The picture is modified to look as if it were drawn using colored pencils.

Painting

The picture is modified to look as if it were painted onto a canvas.

Watercolor

The picture is modified to look as if it were painted using watercolors.

Tips:

      Use the Edit Viewpoints command to save and restore viewpoints. This makes it easier to re-create screen shots from exact locations.

      To print a screen shot, see Printing a Screen Shot.

      To save a screen shot that includes an alpha channel for transparency, use the TGA file format. This is useful when you want to create pictures of custom designs for use in Realtime Landscaping Photo. See Creating Pictures for Realtime Landscaping Photo for details.
