Snap Settings
Position snapping and angle snapping are powerful helpers
that allow you to achieve greater accuracy when designing and editing objects.
When an object or a point “snaps”, it is positioning itself at a point of
interest, such as a grid intersection or the edge of another shape on your
design. Within the Snap Settings menu, each method of snapping can
be adjusted.
To edit snap settings:
1.
Click Settings and Snap Settings.
2.
Modify the settings as needed and then click the OK button.

Enable
snaps Click the Enable snaps checkbox to enable or disable
all position-based snapping.
Grid Click
the Grid checkbox to enable or disable grid snapping. When grid snapping
is enabled, objects and points will snap to the grid intersections.
Point Click
the Point checkbox to enable or disable point snapping. When point
snapping is enabled, objects and points will snap to the points of nearby
shapes.
Edge Click
the Edge checkbox to enable or disable edge snapping. When edge snapping
is enabled, objects and points will snap to the edges of nearby shapes.
Midpoint Click
the Midpoint checkbox to enable or disable midpoint snapping. When
midpoint snapping is enabled, objects and points will snap to the midpoints of
nearby shape edges.
Perpendicular Click
the Perpendicular checkbox to enable or disable perpendicular snapping.
When adding a new shape, if the first point is placed on the edge of an existing
shape, then the second point will snap to the perpendicular direction to that
edge.
Show
tooltips Click the Show tooltips checkbox to enable or
disable the appearance of snap tooltips. When tooltips are enabled, then a small
information box will explain what is currently being snapped to.
Snap
tolerance The Snap tolerance value determines the distance, in
pixels, at which your mouse cursor will snap to the target. Because distance is
measured in pixels, the snapping tolerance will intuitively adjust to your zoom
level and monitor size.
Enable Angle
Snap Click the Enable Angle Snap checkbox to enable or disable
angle snaps. When angle snaps are enabled, objects will snap to the defined
Snap angle when they are rotated.
Snap
angle Enter the desired rotation angle in the Snap angle field.
The snap angle determines what angles objects will snap to when they are
rotated.
Show
grid Click the Show grid checkbox to enable or disable the
visibility of the grid. The grid does not need to be visible for objects to snap
to it.
Disable grid
snap when hidden Click the Disable grid snap when hidden checkbox
to enable or disable the grid snapping when Show grid is disabled. This
option is more intuitive for new users.
Grid
size Enter the desired size of each grid square in the Grid size
field. The grid size is measured in feet or meters.
Major line
every Enter the desired rate at which darker grid lines appear in the
Major line every field. For example, if the Grid size is set to 1
foot, and the Major line every setting is set to 10, then a dark grid
line will appear every 10 feet.
Grid
color To change the color of the grid, click the small color swatch that
displays the current grid color.
