Plant Row Properties
The properties used to modify a plant fill are located to
the right of the screen when your plant fill is selected. Only some of these
properties can be adjusted right before adding the plant fill to your landscape,
but all of the properties can be adjusted after it has been added. Below is a
description of each available property in the order that they appear in the
software.
Plant Properties

Description |
Plants |
The Plants property determines the total
number of plants that are added to the plant row. To change the plant
number, move the Plants slider or type a value in the text
field. |
Spacing |
The Spacing property displays the average
distance between each plant. |
Closed |
The Closed property determines whether the
plant row’s shape is open or closed. To change the state of the plant
row’s shape, click the Closed checkbox to toggle it. |
Explode |
The Explode property is used to separate
each plant in the Plant Row into plant objects, effectively replacing the
Plant Row with a selection of individual plants. To break the Plant Row
into separate plants, click the Explode button. |
Line style |
The Line Style property determines the
appearance of the plant row line. To change the line style, click the
Line Style button and select the style you want to use from the
dialog that appears. |
Edit points |
Click the Edit points button to
enable or disable point editing mode, which will allow you to modify the
plant row’s shape. See Editing Points for
details. |
Shape options |
Click the Shape Options button to save the
shape of the plant row, or to load an existing shape. For more details,
see Saving and Loading
Shapes. |
Plants |
Description |
Current plant |
The Current plant property determines which
plant you currently are able to edit. There are slots for 8 different
plants; to change the current plant, click the drop-down menu and select
the plant slot you would like to adjust. |
Enabled |
The Enabled property determines whether the
current plant is added to the plant row. To toggle the plant’s appearance
in the plant row, click the Enabled checkbox. |
Plant |
The Plant property determines the type of
plant to use in the plant row. To change the plant, click the picture that
displays the current plant used. |
Plant options |
The appearance of the plant can be modified by
clicking the small button that appears to the right of the plant’s
picture. |
Ignore growth limits |
The Ignore growth limits property determines
whether the plant can be enlarged past its maximum size. To toggle this
size limitation, click the Ignore growth limits
checkbox. |

Description |
Plant names |
The Plant names property displays the common name
of the plant on the first line, and the botanical name of the plant on the
second line. The botanical plant name is displayed in italics.
To change one or both of these names for the
currently selected plant, click the options button on the top-right of
this property and enter the desired names. |
Starting age |
The Starting age of the plant determines the
current size of the plant. Note that the starting age does not include any
age added through the Plant Growth
setting. To change the plant’s starting age, move the Starting age slider
or enter a value in the text field. |
Plant growth |
The Plant growth property displays the
current Plant Growth
setting. |
Current age |
The Current age property displays the sum of
the plant’s starting age and the current Plant Growth setting. |
Mature age |
The Mature age property displays the
age at which the plant will reach its mature height. |
Current height |
The Current height property displays the
height of the plant at its current age. |
Mature height |
The Mature height property displays the
height that the plant will reach when it reaches its mature age. |
Planting zones |
The Planting zones property displays the zones that
the plant will thrive in. To view a map of these zones, click Tools
and Plant Hardiness Zones.
Note: Plant hardiness zones do not apply to
annuals. |
