Aligning Objects
The Alignment tools can be used to quickly line up selected
objects.
To align objects:
1.
Switch to the Top-Down view (not required but recommended).
2.
Click the objects you wish to align while holding the Shift key on your
keyboard (to allow you to select more than one object).
3.
Click Edit, Align, and then select the alignment method you would
like to use. See the chart below for details on each method.
Command |
Description |
Left Sides |
The Left Sides alignment option is
used to vertically align all selected objects by their leftmost
extents. |
Horizontal Centers |
The Horizontal Centers alignment
option is used to vertically align all selected objects by their averaged
positions. |
Right Sides |
The Right Sides alignment option is
used to vertically align all selected objects by their rightmost
extents. |
Top Sides |
The Top Sides alignment option is
used to horizontally align all selected objects by their uppermost
extents. “Top” in this context means the top of the objects when viewed in
the Top-Down view. |
Vertical Centers |
The Vertical Centers alignment option
is used to horizontally align all selected objects by their averaged
positions. |
Bottom Sides |
The Bottom Sides alignment option is
used to horizontally align all selected objects by their bottommost
extents. “Bottom” in this context means the bottom of the objects when
viewed in the Top-Down view. |
Distribute Horizontally |
The Distribute Horizontally alignment
option is used to evenly position all selected objects from left to
right. |
Distribute Vertically |
The Distribute Vertically alignment
option is used to evenly position all selected objects from top to
bottom. |
