House Light Properties
The properties used to modify a house light are located to
the right of the screen when your light is selected. These house light
properties can either be adjusted right before adding the light to a house or
after it has been added. Below is a description of each available house light
property in the order that they appear in the software:
Options |
Description |
Material options |
The appearance of the house light can be modified
by clicking the small button that appears to the right of the house light
image. |
Width |
The Width property determines the size of
the house light from left to right. To adjust the house light width, move
the Width slider or enter a value in the text field. |
Height |
The Height property determines how tall the
house light is. To adjust the house light height, move the Height slider
or enter a value in the text field. |
Elevation |
The Elevation property determines the
distance of the house light from the ground. To change the elevation, move
the Elevation slider or type a value in the text field. |
Range |
The Range property determines the distance
that the house light will shine, effectively controlling the strength of
the light. To change the light’s influence, move the Range slider or type
a value in the text field. |
Beam angle |
The Beam angle property determines the width
of the house light’s influence. To adjust the light’s influence, move the
Beam angle slider or type a value in the text field. |
Color |
The Color property determines the color of
illumination. For example, a blue color would cause the light to cast blue
light during a walkthrough. To change the house light’s color, click the
small color swatch that displays light’s current color. |
Show area of influence |
The Show area of influence property
determines whether or not a helper is added. This helper is used to view
the house light’s range and angle of influence. To enable or disable the
lighting helper, click the Show area of influence checkbox. |
Use ray tracing for accurate shadows |
The Use ray tracing for accurate shadows
property determines the accuracy and quality of shadows that are created
by the selected house light in an evening walkthrough. Ray tracing
provides higher quality, but causes walkthroughs to generate slower. To
toggle ray tracing, click the Use ray tracing for accurate shadows
checkbox. |
