Pool Decking Properties
The properties used to modify a Pool Decking object are
located to the right of the screen when your decking is selected. These
properties can either be adjusted right before adding the pool decking to your
landscape or after it has been added. Below is a description of each available
property in the order that they appear in the software.
Decking Material |
Description |
Custom appearance in each view |
The Custom appearance in
each view option determines whether the pool decking will
appear differently in the Plan view than in the Perspective view. If this
option is unchecked, the decking will appear the same in both
views. |
Plan |
The Plan tab contains properties that affect
the appearance of the pool decking in the Plan view. This tab will not be
available unless the Custom appearance in each view option is
checked. |
Perspective |
The Perspective tab contains properties that
affect the appearance of the pool decking in the Perspective view. This
tab will not be available unless the Custom appearance
in each view option is checked. |
Material |
The Material property determines what type
of surface the pool decking will use. To change the material, click the
small image that displays the current material. |
Material options |
The appearance of the pool decking can be modified
by clicking the small button that appears to the right of the material
image. |
Size |
The Size property determines the scale of
the decking material. |
Angle |
The Angle property determines the rotation
angle of the decking material. To change the material angle, move
the Angle slider or type a value in the text field. |
Offset X |
The Offset X property determines the decking
material’s left and right orientation. To shift the material left or
right, move the Offset X slider or enter a value in the text
field. |
Offset Y |
The Offset Y property determines the decking
material’s forward and backward orientation. To shift the material forward
or backward, move the Offset Y slider or enter a value in the text
field. |
Shininess |
The Shininess property determines how glossy
the material will appear. To change the appearance of the material, click
the Shininess drop-down menu and select from the following options:
Default, Off, Low, Medium, or High. The shininess property only affects
the appearance of the material while in the 3D view. |
Enable enhanced surface detail |
The Enable enhanced surface detail property
determines whether or not the decking will have increased detail when
viewed up close. |
Transparency |
The Transparency property determines the
opacity of the pool decking in the Plan view. To change the opacity, move
the Transparency slider or type a value in the text field. Note that the
Transparency property is only available when the Custom appearance in
each view option is checked. |
Line style |
The Line Style property determines the
appearance of the outline of the pool decking in the Plan view. To change
the line style, click the Line Style button and select the style
you wish to use from the dialog that appears. Note that a line style is
only available when the Custom appearance in each view option is
checked. |

Description |
Elevation |
The Elevation property determines the
distance of the pool decking from the ground. To change the elevation,
move the Elevation slider or type a value in the text field. |
Height |
The Height property determines how tall the
pool decking is. To adjust the decking’s height, move the Height slider or
type a value in the text field. |
Auto trim to pools |
The Auto trim to pools property is used to
automatically trim the pool decking in areas where it overlaps with a
swimming pool. To toggle the overlap trimming, click the Auto trim to
pools checkbox. |
Edit points |
Click the Edit points button to
enable or disable point editing mode, which will allow you to modify the
pool decking’s shape. See Editing Points
for details. |
Shape options |
Click the Shape Options button to save the
shape of the pool decking, or to load an existing shape. For more details,
see Saving and Loading
Shapes. |
Coping |
Description |

each view option determines whether the pool decking will

The Material property determines what type

clicking the small button that appears to the right of the material
image. |
Size |
The Size property determines the scale of
the coping material. |

angle of the coping material. To change the material angle, move the
Angle slider or type a value in the text field. |

material’s left and right orientation. To shift the material left or

material’s forward and backward orientation. To shift the material forward
or backward, move the Offset Y slider or enter a value in the text
field. |
Shininess |
The Shininess property determines how glossy
the material will appear. To change the appearance of the material, click
the Shininess drop-down menu and select from the following options:
Default, Off, Low, Medium, or High. The shininess property only affects
the appearance of the material while in the 3D view. |

Line Style |
The Line Style property determines the

line style, click the Line Style button and select the style you

Coping type |
The Coping type property determines which
style of coping is placed around the perimeter of the pool decking. To
change the style of coping, click the Coping type drop-down menu and
select the style you would like to use. |
Length |
The Length property determines the size of
the coping from front to back. To adjust the coping’s length, move the
Length slider or type a value in the text field. |
Height |
The Height property determines how tall the
coping is. To change the coping height, move the Height slider or type a
value in the text field. |
Overhang |
The Overhang property determines how far the
coping extends away from the pool decking. To adjust the amount of
extension, move the Overhang slider or type a value in the text
field. |
Edit coping |
Click the Edit coping button to enable or
disable coping editing mode, which will allow you to modify the visibility
of coping at each pool decking edge. When coping editing mode is enabled,
click the edges of your pool decking that you wish to toggle. Note that
the Edit coping property will be disabled if the Style property is
set to None or Seamless. |
Tile |
Description |
Add tile |
The Add tile property determines whether a
strip of tile is added to the top of the pool decking sides. To toggle the
appearance of the tile, click the Add tile checkbox. |
Material |
The Material property determines what type
of tile is added to the pool decking. To change the material, click the
small image that displays the current material. |
Material options |
The appearance of the pool decking tile can be
modified by clicking the small button that appears to the right of the
material image. |
Size |
The Size property determines the scale of
the tile material. |
Angle |
The Angle property determines the rotation
angle of the tile material. To change the material angle, move the
Angle slider or type a value in the text field. |
Offset X |
The Offset X property determines the tile
material’s left and right orientation. To shift the material left or
right, move the Offset X slider or enter a value in the text
field. |
Offset Y |
The Offset Y property determines the tile
material’s forward and backward orientation. To shift the material forward
or backward, move the Offset Y slider or enter a value in the text
field. |
Shininess |
The Shininess property determines how glossy
the material will appear. To change the appearance of the material, click
the Shininess drop-down menu and select from the following options:
Default, Off, Low, Medium, or High. The shininess property only affects
the appearance of the material while in the 3D view. |

viewed up close. |
Tile size |
The Tile size property determines the
size of each tile. |
Information |
Description |
Area |
The Area property displays the approximate
surface area in square feet or meters. Overlapping swimming pools are
excluded. When this value is calculated, a blue shape appears to help you
visualize how the area is determined. |
Perimeter |
The Perimeter property displays the
approximate distance around the pool decking in feet or meters.
Overlapping swimming pools are excluded. When this value is calculated, a
yellow line appears to help you visualize how the perimeter is
determined. |
Calculate |
Click the Calculate button to calculate the
above values. |
