Fence Properties
The properties used to modify a fence are located to the
right of the screen when your fence is selected. Only some of these fence
properties can be adjusted right before adding the fence to your landscape, but
all of the properties can be adjusted after it has been added. Below is a
description of each available fence property in the order that they appear in
the software:
Options |
Description |
Style |
The Style property determines the group of
pre-set fence properties that are used. To change the fence style, click
the picture that displays the current fence style. |
Material |
The Material property determines what type of
surface the fence will use. To change the material, click the small image
that displays the current material. |
Material options |
The appearance of the fence can be modified by
clicking the small button that appears to the right of the fence
image. |
Stepped |
The Stepped property determines how the fence
will conform to uneven terrain. If the Stepped option is checked, then the
fence will be vertically staggered as it ascends or descends. Note that
the Stepped option has no effect on fences that are placed on flat
terrain. |
Shadow Box |
The Shadow box property can be checked
to cause the fence boards to alternate fence sides. |
Switch sides |
The Switch sides property causes the
fence boards to change which side of the fence they are attached to. Note
that this option is not available when the Shadow box option
is checked. |
Edit points |
Click the Edit points button to enable
or disable point editing mode, which will allow you to modify the fence
shape. See Editing Points for
details. |
Shape options |
Click the Shape Options button to save the
shape of the fence, or to load an existing shape. For more details, see Saving and Loading
Shapes. |

determine how tall the fence posts are. To change the post height, move
the Post height slider or enter a value in the text field. |

The Post spacing property is used to
determine the maximum distance between any two posts. To change the
distance between posts, move the Post spacing slider or enter a value in
the text field. |
Rail offset |
The Rail offset property is used to
pinch the fence rails together, or spread them apart. If you wish for the
rails to be evenly distributed among the height of the fence, leave the
Rail offset slider set to 0. To change the rail offset, move the Rail
offset slider or enter a value in the text field. |

The Board offset property is used to
modify the distance between the bottom of the boards and the bottom of the
fence. For example, the Board offset slider could be used to add a six
inch gap underneath the fence boards. To change the board offset, move the
Board offset slider or enter a value in the text field. |
