Adding a Window
Windows of many shapes and styles can be added to any house
in your landscape design. Because windows snap automatically to houses, they are
very easy to place. The Window object can also be used to add awnings, shutters,
gable vents, and window boxes.

To add a Window, Awning, Shutter, Gable Vent, or Window
Box:
1.
Select the Perspective view (not required but recommended).
2.
Adjust your view until you can clearly see the wall of the house you wish to add
the window to.
3.
Click the Add Window button, which is found near the top of the screen
under the Building tab.
4.
Click the picture of the default window that appears to the right of the screen,
and then select the window you would like to use from the menu that appears.
5.
Click the wall you wish to add the window to.

To move an existing Window:
1.
Click your window to select it.
2.
Click the window again, but this time hold down the left mouse button as you
move the mouse to reposition the window. Note that a window cannot be moved to a
different house object.
To adjust the elevation of an existing window:
1.
Click the window to select it.
2.
Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and then click the window again,
but this time hold down the left mouse button as you move the mouse up or
down.
- OR -
2.
Modify the Elevation property
that appears when your window is selected.
Tips:
•
Windows can be easily duplicated by using the Copy and Paste commands.
•
Windows can be added in both the Plan and Perspective views, but are
easier to add in the Perspective view.
• If
you wish to place multiple windows of the same type, click on the Add
Window button, hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and then simply
click once for each window you wish to add.
•
Window placement can be difficult if grid snap is enabled because your
window will move to the grid intersections as you attempt to add it. You can
toggle the grid snapping off by pressing Ctrl + G on your
keyboard. For more information, see Snap
Settings.
•
Windows can only be added to houses that have already been created; they
cannot be added to other objects.
